Modular Heat Pumps

Clade’s modular heat pumps deliver powerful, scalable heating solutions designed for today’s commercial and industrial demands. Combining efficiency with flexibility, our energy-efficient models utilise natural refrigerants such as R290 and CO2 to achieve outstanding performance while reducing environmental impact. Whether installed individually or in multiples, they provide reliable, future-ready heating systems that adapt seamlessly to diverse site requirements. Built and engineered in the UK, they reflect Clade’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and long-term value for our customers.

MAPLE CO2 HEAT PUMP

The Maple is our CO2 modular high capacity heat pump for heating and hot water production. Up to 500KW of heating capacity at -5C ambient temperature and 70C flow temperatures all at high COPs.

ROWAN R290 HEAT PUMP

The Rowan is part of our range of R290 heat pumps, offering an affordable, low carbon solution with superb heat service. Compact and easy to install, our Rowan range goes up to 375KW at -5C ambient.

WHAT ARE MODULAR HEAT PUMPS?

Modular heat pumps are designed as a series of smaller units that work together to provide large-scale heating and hot water. Instead of relying on a single system, multiple modules can be installed in sequence, allowing capacity to be increased or adjusted as needed. This approach not only makes installation more straightforward, it also improves system resilience, if one unit requires servicing, others continue to operate. Modular design offers a practical, efficient route to meeting modern decarbonisation goals.

Benefits & Key Features

Ultra-low environmental impact – natural refrigerants with minimal Global Warming Potential (GWP) and zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP)

High operating temperatures – capable of producing hot water up to 65–80°C to suit demanding commercial applications

Scalability and resilience – modules can be combined to increase capacity, ensuring flexibility and uninterrupted performance

Optimised efficiency – inverter-driven compressors, advanced defrost systems and weather-compensated controls improve seasonal efficiency

Ease of installation and servicing – external headers, optional noise reduction features, and service-friendly layouts reduce time on site

Proven performance – independently benchmarked COP and SCOP ratings confirm consistent, efficient operation in real-world conditions

Modular Heat Pump Applications

Modular heat pumps are designed to serve buildings and facilities with significant and often fluctuating heating and hot water demands. Their scalable design makes them particularly effective for commercial, industrial, and public sector projects, where capacity can be expanded simply by adding modules. Typical applications include hospitals, hotels, offices, schools, and district heating networks, all of which benefit from reliable output and the resilience of multi-unit systems.

In industrial settings, modular heat pumps support process heating and hot water generation, while in mixed-use developments they provide a flexible, low-carbon solution that can adapt as demand grows. Their ability to perform efficiently at part load also makes them ideal for sites with seasonal variation or phased expansion plans, ensuring both sustainability and long-term value.

Clade Engineering offers air, ground, and water source heat pumps and refrigeration that use eco-friendly CO2 coolant and can operate either singly or as part of a multi-unit system.
