Claremont Resource Centre – CO2 heat pump retrofit case study
Introduction
Claremont Resource Centre, located in Manchester, is a vital community hub supporting various local groups. To enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, Equans collaborated with the Manchester City Council to secure PSDS funding. This initiative led to the replacement of the outdated gas boiler with a state-of-the-art heat pump system provided by Clade.
The Solution: Clade’s CO2 Acer Heat Pumps
The chosen technology is two CO2 Clade Acer heat pumps with 75KW at -5C ambient temperature. This provides good turn down, defrost without losing heat and resilience. The new heating system runs at 70°C flow and 30°C return. There are new radiator and radiant panel heating circuits for space heating as well as a new domestic hot water system.
Key Benefits
- Tailored Installation: The Clade designed system delivers high efficiency heat and hot water using the lowest GWP refrigerant.
- Intelligent System Integration: The new Clade master controller and domestic hot water controllers provide easy integration and simple control.
- Carbon Reduction: The bespoke heating solution significantly lowers carbon emissions, supporting the commitment to environmental responsibility through electrificaiton and by using natural refrigerant CO2 which has a GWP of 1 and doesn’t break down in to toxic chemicals like HFOs.
