Aldi – Atherstone
We were initially contacted by Aldi’s design consultant, K2 Engineering in December 2018 regarding the opportunity to supply Aldi with refrigeration to a new suite of rooms, incorporating both chilled and frozen. The works were conducted alongside the main building contractor; DSP Construction Management Ltd.
The location of the project was the Aldi Atherstone Regional Distribution centre, which is located at the Aldi UK Head office. The requirement was to convert existing ambient space to chilled / frozen storage due to an increased requirement for chilled and frozen products in their stores.
The plant was located externally at ground level to allow safe maintenance access in future and to prevent health & safety concerns associated with locating it on the roof.
Being adjacent to the cold room suite, the plant location was chosen to reduce charge size and leak potential due to minimised pipe runs.
RDM was the controller of choice and was used for the plant and the BMS system, we also installed a secondary monitoring system utilising RDM, alongside CPC for leak detection.
Clade Engineering Systems have supplied refrigeration plant to over 100 Aldi stores.
